This research study is recruiting collegiate African American Football players that played high school football in the greater Los Angeles Area. If you are a college football player from the greater Los Angeles area, we are interested in your athletic and academic journey. Please feel free to share this with any college football player from the greater Los Angeles area.
The goal of this research study is to capture the lived experiences of African American male football players regarding their academic and athletic motivations, gaining insight into and understanding of intrinsic and extrinsic motivation in athletics and academics. This study hopes to utilize the student athlete perspective to enhance the academic success of African American males.
Participants will be interviewed and given opportunities to elaborate on their lived experiences as student-athletes, as well as their intrinsic and extrinsic motivations. The interviews will last 30-60 minutes and will consist of structured questions. Participants' identities will be confidential.
